MINI Concept Aceman: The First All-Electric Crossover In The New MINI Family

A first look at the MINI Concept Aceman has been revealed which showcases the beginning of a new MINI design era. The fully-electric crossover will be a new addition to the premium small car segment.

MINI Concept Aceman was unveiled last week and shines a spotlight on the design and technological innovations that will position MINI as a brand of the future.

The next generation MINI family is set to include the iconic three-door MINI Cooper and MINI Countryman, with the Aceman set to bridge the space between the Cooper and Countryman models.

While the concept model will not be for sale, it gives a glimpse of how the production MINI Aceman could look.

New MINI design era

MINI Concept Aceman - Roof

Design features on MINI models have always been undeniable and the Concept Aceman still shares the same MINI brand DNA, whilst pushing the boundaries with innovative technology and striking exterior updates.

Featuring an expressive paint finish for the body and contrasting roof, the Icy Sunglow Green is a subtle three-dimensional, light turquoise shade, which intensifies depending on light and perspective.

Traditional metallic racing green accents can be found on the Aceman’s roof, on the lower edge of the body and trims, as well accents of royal blue to create a distinct exterior look.

Classic round headlights have been updated to feature their own contours, and the iconic Union Jack graphic which MINI is renowned for has been incorporated into rear lights, robust roof rack, and front grille.

Stefan Wurst, Head of the MINI brand, said: “The MINI Concept Aceman provides an initial glimpse of a completely new vehicle, bridging the space between the MINI Cooper and the MINI Countryman in the model family’s future.

“This concept car reflects how MINI is reinventing itself for its all-electric future and what the brand stands for: an electrified go-kart feel, an immersive digital experience and a strong focus on a minimal environmental footprint.”

MINImalism interior

The fully-electric Concept Aceman also puts sustainability at the heart of the design using knitted recycled textiles throughout the interior and a leather-free steering wheel.

Taking inspiration from the classic 1959 MINI which featured nothing more than seats, a steering wheel, gear lever, central round instrument, and toggle switch, the Concept Aceman has been reduced to the bare essentials.

By offering a more simplistic design, MINI aims to create the same unrivalled driving experience as iconic early models with few operating elements.

Innovative OLED display

When you step inside any MINI model, one of the first noticeable features is the distinctive round display and this has been reimagined in the new all-electric Concept Aceman model.

The circular OLED display takes up the entire surface of the central interface, with MINI being the world’s first car manufacturer to do this. Offering a high-quality display, the OLED interface features a modern layout based on the latest generation of the MINI Operating System.

Inside the cabin, another noticeable addition is the display that extends beyond the central interface. Creating a unique digital experience, owners can display moving image projections across the entire dashboard and into the door panels.

Clever use of space

The MINI Concept Aceman merges characteristics from the brand’s best-selling models, the MINI Hatch and Countryman, creating a modern take on the crossover model.

Using space creatively is one of MINI’s main brand philosophies and the Concept Aceman has been designed with exactly that in mind. Offering interior seating for up to five people and a large boot space, the MINI Concept Aceman offers ample space for passengers and luggage, with minimal surface area.

The large panoramic glass roof floods the interior cabin with light, also giving the illusion of more space.

The MINI Concept Aceman is set to make its public debut on 22nd August at the Gamescom 2022 computer and video games fair in Cologne.
